Gender Equality Policy and Code of Conduct
At the
London School of Management and Technology (LSMT), we
are deeply committed to promoting gender equality and
ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their gender
identity, have equal opportunities and rights within our
academic community. Our Gender Equality Policy and Code of Conduct
outlines eight core principles designed to cultivate an
inclusive and equitable environment for all staff and
students.
Core Principles of the Gender Policy
-
Equal Rights & Opportunities:
-
We believe that every individual has the right to
equal treatment and development opportunities. All
staff and students share the responsibility to uphold
this principle, actively working towards creating a
fair and equitable environment for everyone.
-
Balanced Representation:
-
We are dedicated to achieving gender balance across
all roles within the institution. To address any
underrepresentation, we commit to giving preferential
consideration to qualified individuals of
underrepresented genders when qualifications are
equal. This initiative aims to ensure diverse
perspectives and experiences are represented at all
levels of our organisation.
-
Non-Discrimination:
-
Discrimination based on sex, gender identity, or
gender transition is strictly prohibited at LSMT. We
are committed to fostering an environment where all
individuals can participate without fear of negative
consequences due to their gender identity or
expression.
-
Work-Life Balance:
-
Understanding the importance of balancing professional
and personal responsibilities, we support flexible
work and study arrangements. This includes providing
access to childcare facilities and other resources
designed to accommodate the diverse needs of our staff
and students.
-
Respect & Dignity:
-
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for sexual
harassment and sexist behavior. We are committed to
ensuring that every individual is treated with dignity
and respect, creating a safe and supportive atmosphere
for all members of our community.
-
Inclusive Language:
-
Our commitment to gender equality extends to
communication practices. We advocate for the use of
inclusive language in all written and spoken
communications to reflect our dedication to equal
treatment and respect for all genders.
-
Data Monitoring:
-
To assess our progress in promoting gender equality,
we regularly collects and analyses gender-related
data. This information is crucial for informing
institutional decisions and shaping initiatives aimed
at advancing equal opportunities within our community.
-
Support Services:
-
The
Office for Gender Equality and Diversity
we serve as a resource for guidance on
gender-related policies and issues. We encourage all
staff and students to seek support and advice from
this office to navigate any challenges they may
encounter related to gender equality.
Policy Adoption and Commitment
This Gender Policy Code of Conduct was adopted on
January 2, 2023, as part of our ongoing
commitment to fostering a culture of gender equality across
all levels of our institution. We recognize that promoting
gender equality is not just a goal but a continuous journey
that requires collective effort and engagement from everyone
in our community.
