Doctorate by Published Work Program
Introduction
The Doctorate by Published Work is a prestigious qualification awarded for the
submission of a portfolio of published research that meets the standards of a
traditional doctorate. This program is designed to recognise and honor individuals who
have made significant contributions to their field through substantial research.
Eligibility
Candidates eligible to apply for the Doctorate by Published Work include:
- Academic staff, administrative staff, or library staff at the
London School of
Management & Technology (LSMT) with a minimum of three years of continuous
employment immediately prior to submitting their published work.

Postgraduates or graduates with at least seven years of standing, holding a
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Applicants do not need to be LSMT graduates.
Application Process
Interested candidates should follow the application process outlined below:
- Complete a research application using the standard online
Doctoral Application Form.

Clearly indicate on the application form the intention to apply for the
Doctorate by Published Work.

Submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV) along with copies of the works to be considered.

Provide between 3 to 8 publications that will form the basis for examination,
including contextual information such as journal profiles, individual
contributions to each publication, citation counts, and their significance in
the field.
Consideration Process
The submission will undergo a thorough review process as follows:
- The Head of the relevant Department will assess the submission
and appoint an Academic Advisor to guide the candidate.

The Academic Advisor will evaluate the quality of the publications and assess
the candidate's suitability for admission.

Upon satisfactory review, the Chair of the Faculty Education Committee will
consider the submission.

If the works meet the required standards, the Chair of the Faculty Board will
recommend admission to the Doctorate program.

Final approval for admission will be granted by the Chair of the Board of
Research Studies.
Period of Registration
The normal registration period is 12 months; however:
- Non-staff candidates may submit for examination after six months
of
registration.
- Staff candidates may submit for examination after three months of
registration.
During this period, candidates must submit their works for assessment along with a
Covering Document of 5,000 to 10,000 words that explains the relationship between
their works, their significance, and includes a full bibliography.
Fees
The fee for the Doctorate by Published Work program is CHF 18,000. Members of staff and
LSMT graduates are charged at 20% of the full-time postgraduate research fee.
