Suspension & Dismissal Policy at LSMT

At LSMT, we are committed to upholding academic standards that ensure the success and integrity of our educational programs. Below are the policies regarding suspension, dismissal, and readmission:

Suspension & Dismissal

Students at LSMT are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout their program. If a student's performance falls below the required standards, the following actions may be taken:

  1. 1. Suspension: A student who does not meet the minimum required grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 may face suspension. Students who are suspended are eligible to apply for readmission once. If readmitted, the student will be placed on academic probation, with specific conditions that must be met to continue their studies.
  2. 2. Dismissal: If a student’s grades fall below the minimum requirement of a 4.0 GPA at any point after being readmitted from suspension, the student will be dismissed from LSMT. Dismissed students are not eligible to return to the program. The decision to dismiss is final, based on the student’s inability to meet the academic standards set by the institution.
  3. 3. Readmission Process: A suspended student seeking readmission must submit a written request to the Vice President of Academic Affairs within 15 days of receiving the notice of suspension. The request should outline the student’s plan for achieving satisfactory academic progress. If readmitted, the student must strictly adhere to the academic probation conditions, as failure to do so will result in dismissal.
  4. 4. Maximum Program Duration: LSMT allows students a maximum time frame of 1.5 times the standard program duration to complete their studies. For example, a program designed to be completed in two years must be finished within three years. Failure to complete the program within this time frame will result in dismissal due to unsatisfactory progress.

Appeals Process

Students have the right to appeal decisions regarding suspension or dismissal:

  1. 1. Submitting an Appeal: Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Vice President of Academic Affairs within 15 days of receiving the notice of suspension or dismissal. The appeal should clearly demonstrate how the student plans to achieve satisfactory academic progress if given another opportunity.
  2. Appeal Review: The Vice President of Academic Affairs will review the appeal, considering the student’s academic history, the reasons provided for poor performance, and the proposed plan for improvement. The Vice President has the final authority to decide on the appeal.
  3. 2. Decision Notification: The Vice President will notify the student of the decision within five days of receiving the appeal. If the appeal is accepted, the student will be allowed to resume their studies under specified conditions designed to support their academic success.

Non-Discrimination Policy

LSMT is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students. Our non-discrimination policy ensures that:

  1. 1. Inclusive Admissions: LSMT welcomes students of any race, color, sex, age, marital status, disability, religion, belief, or national or ethnic origin. We are committed to providing equal access to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities available to students at LSMT.
  2. 2. Equal Treatment: We do not discriminate in the administration of our academic policies, admissions processes, financial aid, or any other programs managed by LSMT. All students are given equal opportunities to participate in our academic and extracurricular offerings.
